What is color Doppler of the blood vessels of the neck and why is it done?

Color Doppler of the blood vessels of the neck assesses blood flow in the carotid and vertebral arteries that supply blood to the brain. The exam is performed when narrowing, plaques, circulation disorders, dizziness, headaches are suspected, or after a stroke.

What’s included in the review?

• Ultrasound assessment of the carotid and vertebral arteries
• Assessment of the presence of atherosclerotic plaques and the degree of narrowing
• Analysis of the speed and quality of blood flow
• Recommendation of therapy or additional diagnostics, if needed

• The exam does not require any special preparation.
