What is an abdominal ultrasound and why is it performed?

An abdominal ultrasound is a painless, non-invasive, and reliable diagnostic method that allows examination of the organs in the abdominal cavity. It is used to assess the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and spleen, as well as to detect acute and chronic conditions.

What’s included in the review?

  • Assessment of the size, structure, and appearance of abdominal organs
  • Detection of cysts, tumors, stones, and inflammatory processes
  • Assessment of the presence of fluid in the abdominal cavity
  • S-Shearwave™ and TAI™ elastography – assessment of liver tissue stiffness and structure

Preparation

  • Do not eat for at least 4 hours before the examination
  • Avoid carbonated drinks and heavy foods for 12 hours before the examination
