Breast ultrasound (from age 25)

Breast ultrasound (from age 25)

What is a breast ultrasound and why is it performed?

A breast ultrasound is a basic and reliable method for detecting changes.

It is recommended that every woman, after turning 25, has a breast ultrasound once a year, and after age 40 that screenings are done in combination with mammography, as recommended by the radiologist.

Early diagnosis is crucial, as it enables changes to be detected at a stage when the chances of a full recovery are greatest.

What’s included in the review?

  • Assessment of the glandular and fatty breast tissue
  • Detection of cysts, benign changes, and suspicious lesions
  • Assessment of lymph nodes in the underarm region

Preparation

  • The exam is best done between days 5 and 15 from the start of the menstrual cycle
  • On the day of the exam, do not use deodorant, perfume, or powder
  • Bring previous ultrasound and mammography reports for comparison
