What are IVF consultations, and why are they done?
IVF consultations provide couples with an expert fertility assessment, a review of previous medical records, and the creation of an individualized infertility treatment plan. This discussion is a key first step before starting IVF or other assisted reproduction methods.
What does the consultation include?
• A detailed discussion of infertility history and previous attempts to conceive
• Review and analysis of prior medical documentation
• Recommendations for further diagnostic procedures (lab tests, ultrasound, semen analysis…)
• Development of an individualized treatment plan and IVF procedure plan
• Advice on preparation for the process and what to expect during treatment
When are consultations recommended?
• Infertility lasting longer than 12 months
• An unfavorable semen analysis result that requires interpretation
• Unclear hormone or ultrasound findings
• After repeated unsuccessful attempts to conceive
• Preparation for IVF, IUI, or other assisted reproduction methods
Preparing for the consultation
• Bring all previous test results (if available)
• It is recommended that both partners attend
• No special preparation is required
