What is a thyroid gland examination and ultrasound, and why is it performed?
Thyroid gland examination and ultrasound (thyroid UZV) are used to assess the function and structure of the thyroid gland. This examination is recommended for suspected thyroid gland disorders, elevated or low hormone levels (TSH, FT4, FT3), the appearance of nodules, an enlarged gland (goiter), hoarseness, a feeling of pressure in the neck, or as a preventive check-up for individuals with family risk factors.

• Inspection and palpation of the thyroid gland and neck lymph nodes
• Ultrasound examination of the gland and surrounding structures
• Assessment of size, shape, and presence of nodules or cysts

Preparation
• The examination does not require special preparation.
• It is advisable to bring previous ultrasound findings and lab results (TSH, FT4, FT3, antibodies), if available.
