What is a neck ultrasound and why is it performed?

A neck ultrasound is a non-invasive and painless diagnostic examination that allows for the assessment of soft tissues, lymph nodes, and structures located in the neck area. It is most commonly performed for enlarged lymph nodes, swelling, neck pain, changes in soft tissues, or as part of monitoring previously detected changes.

What’s included in the review?

• Assessment of the size and structure of lymph nodes
• Detection of cysts, tumors, inflammatory, and suspicious changes
• Examination of the salivary glands (parotid and submandibular)
• Assessment of the soft tissues of the neck
• Insight into potential changes in the skin and subcutaneous tissue

Preparation

• The examination does not require special preparation
• It is recommended to remove necklaces and bulky jewelry
